EVANGELINE THE MUSICAL -
CREATORS
PAUL
TARANTO (music and lyrics) comes from a musical family and
has extensive composing and conducting experience with concert
bands, orchestras and choirs. Most recently he musical
directed the LSU Theatre productions of Little Shop of
Horrors and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown, as
well as the musical benefit Guys on Broadway for Cystic
Fibrosis. As a teenager, he gained musical experience by
slipping into adult nightclubs to perform. Over the years he has played
and written music for many bands including Sweet Soul, for
which he was a founding member. He studied composition
under the internationally-renowned Dinos Constantinides at
Louisiana State University. Since then, he has worked proudly
in the field of music education for the last 20 years. Evangeline
is his first full-length musical.
JAMIE
WAX (book and lyrics) is a playwright, lyricist and
performer whose works have been produced throughout the
country. He is the author of five plays including his one-man
shows Goin' To Jackson and the A Gift For Lyman
Bourke, as well as the political-comedy Homespin.
He composed the music and lyrics for Goin' To Jackson
and A Gift for Lyman Bourke, as well as the lyrics for
the musical Princess Sara, based on the popular
children's book. As an actor he has appeared as
"Eugene" in all three plays of Neil Simon's trilogy
of Brighton Beach Memoirs, Biloxi Blues and
Broadway Bound; as "Brad Majors" in The
Rocky Horror Show; "Puck" in A Midsummer
Night's Dream; as "Young Dylan Thomas" in A
Child's Christmas in Wales, and most recently as
"Pilate" in Jesus Christ Superstar. His film
work includes the feature film Favorite Son, and the
Hallmark Hall of Fame presentation, The Old Man.
